This oblast' is an important part of Ukraine's industry and agriculture.
The area of the province is 27,200 km�; its population (as of 2004-05-01) is 1.9 million.

* Enerhodar - home for the Zaporiz'ka nuclear power plant
* Melitopol'
* Zaporizhzhia
In 15th century through 18th century, the nothern parts of the province belonged to the Zaporiz'ka Sitch - a self-governed military republic of Ukrainian Cossacks. |
