Description | This large rural riding in eastern Ontario includes the towns of Bath, Perth, Smiths Falls and Carleton Place, as well as Amherst Island.
It stretches from Lake Ontario in the southwest to Black Donald Lake in the north and contains Bon Echo and Frontenac Provincial Parks. It contains the county of Lennox and Addington, and parts of the county of Frontenac and county of Lanark to the border of Mississippi Mills.
The riding has a diverse economic base with manufacturing being the major industry, along with service industries, including tourism. Average family income is $60,033 and unemployment is 5.7 per cent.
The riding of Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington was created in 2004 from 63 per cent of Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington and 38 per cent of Lanark-Carleton, moving Carleton Place and Smiths Falls into the riding for the first time. Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington was created in 1976 from portions of Frontenac-Lennox and Addington and Hastings riding.
