| Description | Vorpommern-Rügen District was formed as a consequence of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania District Reform Act of 2011 (Kreisgebietsreform Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 2011) which came into force on September 4, 2011. The Act merged the former districts of Nordvorpommern and Rügen and the previously independent Hanseatic city of Stralsund. |
