The City of La Vergne is governed by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. This board is the City Council. They are responsible for the decisions that operate the city.
The board consists of the Mayor and four (4) Aldermen. The board appoints an Alderman to serve as Vice-Mayor who subsequently would serve as Mayor should the office become vacant or if the Mayor is absent or unable to discharge the duties of the office.
Members of the City Council are elected to four-year terms by the citizens of La Vergne. The city election is held in November during even-numbered years.
