Description | This urban riding is located on the shore of Rivière-des-Milles-Îles across from Laval. It contains that part of the regional county municipality of Deux-Montagnes comprised of the cities of Deux-Montagnes, St-Eustache and Ste-Marthe-sur-le-Lac and that part of Thérèse-de Blainville comprised of the city of Boisbriand.
Manufacturing is the most important industry in this riding, followed by retail trade. The average family income is $63,314 and unemployment is 5.4 per cent.
Almost 88 per cent of the population cite French as their mother tongue, while seven per cent are English.
In 2004, 79 per cent of the riding was retained. The riding of Blainville-Deux Montagnes was created in the 1976 redistribution from 57 per cent of Terrebonne and 43 per cent of Argenteuil-Deux Montagnes. In 1996, the riding became St-Eustache-Ste-Thérèse and kept 71 per cent of Blainville-Deux Montagnes. The riding name was changed to Rivière-des-Mille-Îles in 1998.
