Description | This southern Ontario riding takes in the suburban developments on top of Hamilton Mountain.
The riding runs from the lip of the Niagara Escarpment in the north to the transmission line in the south, between Glancaster Road, Lincoln Alexander Parkway and West 5th Street in the west and Mountain Brow Boulevard, Arbour Road, Anchor Road and Glover Road in the east.
Primary employment sectors are manufacturing and service industries. Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology is in the riding.
In the 2001 census, almost nine per cent of residents listed Italian as their ethnic origin. The average family income is $63,010 and unemployment is 6.6 per cent.
In 2004, the riding is substantially the same as in the last election with the addition of a small portion of Hamilton West and Ancaster on the western boundary and a small part of Stoney Creek to the east. The riding was established in 1966 and lines were redrawn in 1996 to add part of Hamilton-Wentworth.
