Description | Mountainous region inhabited almost exclusively by 16 tribes of varying degrees of sophistication and modernity, one of which, of whom the state was named after, the Nagas, were known during the British Raj for their 'head-hunting' skills.
Naga territorial rights are recognized by the United Nations. Representative parties of the Naga people have had ongoing discussions about autonomy, even statehood, with the Indian government.
One of three Christian-dominated Indian states, and one of the 'Seven Sisters of India' (they are, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura).
English is the official language and its capital is Kohima. |
