Description | Woodbridge Township, with a population of 97,000, is New Jersey's fifth largest municipality.
The Township consists of ten communities - Avenel, Colonia, Fords, Hopelawn, Iselin, Keasbey,
Menlo Park Terrace, Port Reading, Sewaren, and Woodbridge proper.
------------------------
The Township of Woodbridge is the oldest original township in the state of New Jersey. It was
settled in the early autumn of 1664 and was granted a charter on June 1, 1669 by King Charles
of England. Dally, in his history of Woodbridge, records that it was so called in honor of Reverend
John Woodbridge of Newbury, Massachusetts. |
