Description | Riding profile
The riding is in the province's Centre-du-Québec region, which stretches south from the St. Lawrence River about halfway between Montreal and Quebec City. Drummond–Bois-Francs includes the communities of Chesterville, Sainte-Clotilde-de-Horton, Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover, Sainte-Élizabeth-de-Warwick, Kingsey Falls, Saint-Samuel and Sainte-Séraphine.
The riding is new, and bears little resemblance to any of the predecessors on its territory. It only includes a small fraction of the former riding of Drummond, and mostly consists of areas that were part of the riding of Richmond.
Political history
The old riding of Richmond has been the domain of Liberal Yvon Vallières since 1981. He's held cabinet portfolios including agriculture and fisheries, and minister for Canadian intergovernmental affairs. |
