Info | Vernon “Vern” Buchanan is Chairman and CEO of Buchanan Enterprises and President of Buchanan Automotive Group. His business enterprises include Sarasota Ford and 18 other auto dealerships in Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee, and The Met Fashion House, a day spa and salon. He is a Director of Mobley Homes of Florida.
Buchanan was the founder and CEO of American Speedy Printing, which he formed in 1976. By the time he sold the business in 1989, there were 720 outlets, with $150 million in annual sales.
Buchanan is on the Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise Florida. He serves as Chair-Elect on the Board of Directors for the Florida Chamber of Commerce and on the Executive Committee of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Florida Council of 100, the World President’s Organization and the Chief Executive Organization. He is involved with the Republican National Committee as the Co-chairman of the National Finance Committee, Florida and is a member of the Jeb Bush Finance Committee. Buchanan is Chairman of the Foundation Board for the Ringling Museum of Art. He sits on the Board of Trustees for the Mote Marine Laboratory and for WEDU/PBS Channel 3 and is on the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. Buchanan is also a member of the Foundation Board for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota County.
Vernon Buchanan earned a Bachelors in Business Administration from Cleary College (now named Cleary University) and an M.B.A. from the University of Detroit. In December of 2004, Cleary University awarded him with an Honorary Doctorate of Science in Business Administration.
Buchanan and his wife Sandy have two sons who are currently attending college.
