Info | Missouri Rep. Gary L. Burton, a Republican, represents Jasper County (District 128) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Burton is a self-employed real estate developer and an insurance agent.
Rep. Burton was past president of the Special Olympics and Joplin Workshop, and served on the Joplin City Council for three years. Currently he is chairman of the area Taskforce on Telecommunication; state chairman of the American Legislative Exchange Council; a Protestant and member of Calvary Baptist Church; the Elks Lodge; Missouri Life Underwriters; and the Joplin area Chamber of Commerce. Rep. Burton has been active in several Republican state campaigns.
A 1964 graduate of Knoxville High School, Rep. Burton received a bachelor of science degree in education from Eastern New Mexico University in 1968.
Born August 26, 1945, in Knoxville, Iowa, Rep. Burton resides in Carl Junction with his wife Jennifer Grant. They have six children: Dianne, Todd, Lance, Melinda, Tye, and Nathan.
