Info | After graduating from the Ohio State University Law School in 1994, Mike Sanders began his law career at the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. He served as a special prosecutor for the Drug Task Force and as the lead attorney for the DART (Drug Abatement Response Team) Unit. In 1997 he left the Prosecutor’s Office and established his private practice; still he continued to serve residents of Jackson County as an appointed special counsel.
Always enthusiastic and willing to serve, the prospect of filling out the remainder of the elected Prosecutor's term in Jackson County greatly interested Mike. He sought support from all areas of the county, and was unanimously selected by Democrats as their candidate for the 2002 General election. Mike later found himself unopposed by other political parties in that election, clearing the way for him to become the elected Jackson County Prosecutor.
As a former United States Army Officer, Mike served in the Gulf War and is a proud veteran. He served his country from 1988 to 1991. Mike is a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and an active member of the Mizzou Alumni Association.
He and his wife, Georgia Cardwell Sanders, make their home in Independence, Missouri.
