InfoAssemblywoman Carol A. Murphy is a State Assemblywoman currently serving her second term representing the Seventh Legislative District. First elected in 2017, Assemblywoman Murphy is the first woman in over twenty years to represent the Seventh Legislative District, as well as being the first Democrat from Mount Laurel to ever serve in the state legislature.

She currently serves as the Assembly Deputy Majority Leader and is the Vice-Chair of the Assembly Judiciary Committee. She is also a member of the Assembly Budget Committee, the Assembly Financial Institution and Insurance Committee, the Assembly Oversight, Reforms and Federal Relations Committee. She also services on the Assembly Special Committee on Infrastructure and Natural Resources.

In her spare time, Assemblywoman Murphy spends a lot of time volunteering throughout New Jersey and Burlington County. She is a member of numerous non-profit boards. These groups include the National Foundation for Women Legislators’ Democratic State Director for New Jersey; a member of the Board of Directors for Alice Paul Institute in Paulsdale, a member of the Girl Scouts Trefoil Society, and the Girl Scouts Delegate for Burlington County. In 2020, Assemblywoman Murphy started a non-profit, Brittany Morgan’s Kids an organization for Burlington County Kids and is the co-founder of Maria’s Women United, a South Jersey organization for Democratic women.

Assemblywoman Murphy is a full-time resident of South Jersey. Currently, she and her husband Michael live in the Rancocas section of Mount Laurel with their cat, Lexington.
