Info | Patricia J. Britt has the good fortune to not only represent Cleveland's Ward 6 where she was born and raised, but also to guide one of the most diverse wards in the city. Ward 6 encompasses the neighborhoods of Fairfax, Fairwood, Woodland Hills, Buckeye-Shaker and Little Italy.
A member of Cleveland City Council since 1995, Britt integrates her love for her community with her professional commitment to social work as a member of the faculty and staff at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. Having dual careers has enabled Britt to integrate all of her responsibilities and create common opportunities among constituents and students alike.
During her tenure, Councilwoman Britt has worked hard to provide programs and services to the various constituencies in Ward 6. She is resolute about establishing and maintaining partnerships between various sectors, including industry, education, banking and health care and to helping make the community a clean, beautiful and safe place for people to live, work and raise their families.
The development of new housing in Ward 6 has sparked a synergy and a spirit of revitalization that goes beyond housing. However, there remains the need for economic development opportunities to help people become self-sufficient, says Britt.
Britt has focused much of her time and energy on bringing two major county projects to Ward 6 that will create up to 400 jobs, $50 million in development and the possibility of several new ancillary businesses on Quincy Avenue. In the months to come, she will continue to foster partnerships and opportunities that enhance the well-being of residents and stability of the community.
Councilwoman Britt is currently a member of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials and a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
