Info | Maurine was part of the generation that grew up in the 60's and in the early 70's, she put her ideals into practice while raising a family.
Increasingly active in her community, in the early 80's, Maurine co-founded the Sunshine Folkfest in Powell River, BC. She became an entrepreneur, opening her own retail fashion store, operating a wholesale venture and a successful import/export business.
In the 90's, Maurine entered the world of publishing, developing print media and producing for television. With her children approaching young adulthood, the desire to give back and a deep concern for the environment led her into civic politics. She was elected as a municipal councillor in Esquimalt in 1996, and re-elected in 1999 and again in 2002.
Starting in 1998, she served three years with the provincial government as assistant to three cabinet ministers -- first in the Social Services ministry and then in Transportation and Highways.
Maurine currently runs a consulting company that works with non-profit organizations and First Nations communities to create affordable housing. She is serving her third term as an Esquimalt municipal councillor.
