Info | Senator David Adelman was elected to the Georgia Senate in 2002 with more than 60 percent of the vote. Senator Adelman began his legal career as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia. He is a partner in the Atlanta law firm Sutherland, Asbill and Brennan LLP. In addition to his commercial practice, he represents indigent veterans on a pro bono basis before the United States Court of Veterans Appeals and serves as counsel to the Partnership Against Domestic Violence.
Senator Adelman was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority. During his tenure, he served as chairman of the Legal and Risk Management Committee. He is president-elect of the Emory Law Alumni Association and serves on the boards of several charitable and public interest organizations. Senator Adelman has published numerous articles and presented speeches on various legal issues.
Senator Adelman grew up in Atlanta and received his J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 1989. He earned a M.P.A. from Georgia State University in 1995 and a B.A. from the University of Georgia in 1986. He has received numerous honors throughout his academic career.
The Senator serves as a member on the Health and Human Services, Judiciary, and Rules committees and is the Vice Chairman of the Special Judiciary Committee. He also holds the distinction of being Minority Whip.
Senator Adelman and his wife, Caroline, have three children. They reside in the Emory area of DeKalb County.
