Steve Stoll currently represents the 22nd District in the Missouri Senate. A Democrat from Festus, Steve was first elected to the Senate in 1998 and was re-elected in 2002.

Born April 3, 1947 in St. Louis, Steve was raised in Jefferson County by his late father Robert, a bricklayer, and his mother Shirley. His younger brother Mark is an Associate Circuit Judge in Jefferson County.

A 1965 graduate of St. Pius X High School in Festus, Steve attended Southeast Missouri State University from 1965-1967. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri- Columbia in 1970 and a master of education (reading specialist) from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1979.

Steve served on active duty in the United States Army from 1971-1973. Following his discharge from the Army, Steve taught history in several schools in Jefferson County for nearly 20 years.

He was first elected to the Missouri House in 1992. He served three terms in the House before being elected to the Senate in 1998.

Steve is a member of the following: Church of Our Lady; Knights of Columbus Council 1230; American Legion Post 253; River Trails District of the Boy Scouts of America; Jefferson County Community Partnership; Twin City Kiwanis International; Jefferson County Kid's House; and the Jefferson County YMCA Board of Managers.

During his legislative career, Steve has become a leader on education issues. He has been involved on the national level with the Education Commission of the States and the National Council of State Legislators.

Steve resides in Festus with his wife Kathy. They are the parents of four children: Laura, Amy, Emily (deceased), and Andrew. They also have two grand children, Maggie and Aidan, with another one due in November, 2003.
