Info | COX, J. Elwood - banker, developer, and Republican party politician in NC.
Born in Rich Square, Northampton County NC.
Moved to High Point 1880; open a factory producing shuttle blocks and bobbin heads. At one time he controlled 85% of the international market for shuttle blocks.
Founded the Commercial National Bank in High Point and was a leading banker in the state for decades.
Treasurer, American Banking Association.
Served on the board of many insurance and banking firms in central North Carolina, as well as the board of Guilford College.
Chairman of the Hoover campaign in North Carolina, 1928.
