InfoDoug’s passionate commitment to environmental protection is life-long and deeply rooted. A graduate of the University of Manitoba Asper School of Business and the Lakehead University Environmental Education Program, Doug has worked in conservation and northern economic development in many capacities. For the past 12 years, he has been an educator in the public school system in Winnipeg, where he champions environmental education, and develops curricula for that purpose. Doug is also part of Winnipeg’s Active Transportation Network.

Doug grew up in Winnipeg’s North End and was shaped by the work ethic and diversity of the neighbourhood. He has called River Heights home for the past 15 years, where he resides with his partner Christy and their five children, Noah, Maeve, Theo, Henry and Winnie. He is actively engaged in his community, coaching various hockey and soccer teams and participating in neighbourhood initiatives to keep the community safe and environmentally responsible.

Doug firmly believes that climate change is an existential crisis that must be addressed swiftly and boldly. He is the candidate for the Green Party in Winnipeg South Centre to bring a voice to this genuine threat to our planet, and to take strong action to improve things now and in a responsible and sustainable way. Doug’s goal is to unite our community and our country with the common purpose of making the world a better place for our children and all future generations.
