InfoLou Rinaldi is a dedicated, family-oriented individual with a concern for the community and a strong record of working for its betterment. Upon his election to represent the people of Northumberland in 2003, Lou was appointed to serve as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Public Infrastructure Renewal.

In March 2006, Lou was appointed Parliamentary Assistant (responsible for Rural Affairs) to the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. He is also a member of the Standing Committee on General Government, the Economic Affairs Policy Committee and the Energy Conservation Action Committee.

Lou has been involved in politics in the Brighton area since 1992, when he was appointed to council in the former Brighton Township. He was subsequently elected to council, elected as Deputy Reeve and in 1998 he was appointed Reeve. In 2000, Lou was elected mayor of the newly amalgamated Municipality of Brighton.

Lou and his family have lived in Brighton since 1980 when they purchased the Brighton Speedway. Through dedication and hard work he built the business into a major family entertainment venue.

Lou is also active in community organizations. He is the former chair of the Brighton/Trenton Hospital Advisory Committee and past chair of the Quinte Economic Development Commission, among others. A tireless volunteer, Lou has been involved with minor hockey and as a fundraiser for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Almost Home, United Way, and Northumberland Hospice, to name a few.

Born in Patrica, Italy in 1947, Lou immigrated to Canada with his family in 1960. After graduating from high school, Lou attended George Brown College where he obtained his automotive technology diploma.

Most of all, Lou is devoted to his family. He married Diane in 1970 and together they are the proud parents of four children and grandparents of seven.
