| Info | Soaad Qahhār Hossain was born and grew up in Toronto. He is a 25-year-old professional with experience in the public and private sector, and holds a Project Management Professional (PMP)® designation. Soaad has over 5 years of project management experience, over 2 years of experience in an elected role and working as a representative, and over 3 years of research experience.
Soaad is an experienced Project Manager, Scientist and Representative. While he has represented the Canada’s New Democrats (NDP) in the 2021 federal election and 2022 provincial election, he is running as an independent for the mayoral election. He received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Toronto, completing two specialist programs and one minor program. He specialized in Statistical Machine Learning and Data Mining, specialized in Philosophy, and minored in Biomedical Ethics. He has worked on and realized multiple projects that led to improvements in operations, products, programs and services, communication, policies, safety, accessibility, resource consumption, environmental impact, and more. He knows how to effectively work with diverse stakeholders, planners, and developers in a way that gets the job done.
Soaad has made his life purpose to make the lives of others better and will go above and beyond to make sure that the purpose is accomplished. However, in being exposed to and working within the public and private sectors, he understands that it is necessary to be realistic and practical about limitations. As such, when approaching decisions and taking actions, he will leverage his resources and communicate and work effectively with the public, experts, analysts and professionals, and businesses and organizations to ensure that optimal decisions and actions are made given the resources and constraints.
All Soaad’s education and past experiences have not only given him the knowledge and experience needed to lead and manage, but also understands the connection between different areas and knows that you cannot successfully and optimally improve one area without improving another.
