| Info | Ibrahim "Obby" Khan is a Pakistani-Canadian entrepreneur and former professional Canadian football center who played for nine seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Ottawa Renegades, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and Calgary Stampeders.
A graduate of Simon Fraser University, Obby Khan is renowned for his illustrious nine-year CFL career, wherein he played in 127 games, including the 99th and 100th Grey Cup. During his six years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Khan was a three-time recipient of the Cal Murphy Heart of a Legend Award, an honour awarded to the player who best demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship and dedication to the CFL and community.
Obby’s passion and drive have skyrocketed him to the forefront of Winnipeg’s entrepreneurial and community scene. Following his CFL retirement in 2012, Khan opened his first Shawarma Khan Restaurant, and hasn’t slowed down since. Shawarma Khan, which specializes in fast-casual Middle Eastern cuisine, operates not only in Winnipeg’s historic Exchange District, Downtown SHED District and in fast-developing South Pembina, but additionally opens 3 locations in Investors Group Field each season, serving tens of thousands of sports enthusiasts and concert attendees. At Shawarma Khan, fresh is best! Khan strives to source local, ethically-raised meats whenever possible, and his restaurants’ quality reflects his high personal standards.
Not one to rest on his laurels, in 2013 Khan broke ground on Winnipeg’s first cold-pressed juice company. Three Green Carrot Juice Company locations now feature the healthiest on-the-go products for the local Winnipeg community, packing 3-5 lbs. of produce per bottle, with no sugars, fillers, or preservatives. In addition, Green Carrot proudly offers nutrition shots, vegan smoothies, sandwiches, salads, brownies, and whole foods for healthy living.
