-Received his B. A. (1979) and B. Ed. (1981) from St Francis Xavier University.

-Jim Boudreau was raised in rural Nova Scotia, the eldest son of Gerald and Betty Boudreau of Little Dover.
-Worked in Guysborough County for his entire career, having taught school in Canso, Mulgrave and Sherbrooke where he has been for the last seventeen years.
-Supports the Canso Lions Club in their fundraising efforts.
-Participates in community events throughout the entire constituency such as the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, Ecum Secum Fun Days, Mulgrave Scotia Days, and the Mushaboom Mackerel Derby.

Jim is married to Patti and they have three grown childen Liza, Lee and Josh.
