Info | Ali Shamkhani, minister of defense and logistics, was born in Ahvaz, Khuzestan province in 1955. He holds a B.S. degree in agricultural engineering from the university of Ahvaz, an M.S. degree in military studies and an M.A in state management from the university of state management organization.
Shamkhani currently serves as the commander of the naval forces of the army, the Islamic Revolution's guard corps (I.R.G.C), as well as commander of Khatam Ul-Anbia Naval headquarters in the Persian Gulf. Fighting the counterrevolutionary forces in Khuzestan, Kurdestan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Gilan, and Mazandaran has been among Shamkhani's many undertaking after the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
He also held various military post during the Iraq-Imposed War, including the commander of the IRGC forces in Ahvaz, Khuzestan, acting commander of IRGC, commander of IRGC ground forces, deputy chief of armed forces H.Q. for information and operations, IRGC minister and official in charge of the implementation of the U.N. resolution 598 on ending the Iran-Iraq war. Throughout his career, Shamkhani has been active in scientific research and political and religious affairs. He was endorsed as minister of defense and logistics with 251 parliamentary votes of a total of 264.
