InfoJim Karpoff was born in Alberta and finished high school in Trail, B.C. He attended the University of British Columbia, obtained a B.A. in Criminology and Psychology and a Master of Social Work in Administration.

He has had forty years experience as a senior administrator and consultant in the health care and social service fields with governments and non-profit societies.

Jim has worked as the Executive Director of the Community Social Services Employer's Association, providing Labour Relations and Human Resource services to non-profit and private agencies. He has worked with the South Asian community in Surrey to develop needed services and resources including a 72- unit assisted -living care facility that was just announced.

With the Canadian Execuitve Service Organization, Jim completed projects in Lithuania, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Guyana. He has also done numerous projects with Aboriginal organizations in B.C. and the Yukon.

Jim was the Member of Parliament for Surrey North from 1988 to 1993 and was a former Councillor on Surrey City Council. He has also owned and operated two successful companies

Jim and his wife, Lily, have lived in Surrey for thirty-five years and they have two adult children and four grandchildren.
