InfoJennifer was born in Scotland and moved with her family to Saskatchewan for Grade 5. Additional schooling was completed in British Columbia.

Always a social activist, Jennifer was initiated in the early 1970's in Trail and Rossland, B.C, where she served as an elected Municipal Councillor and Regional Board Director. Those skills led to a certificate in Municipal Administration at Malaspina College, Nanaimo, B.C.

During eight years in Saudi Arabia, where husband Bob worked for Saudi Aramco,
Jennifer gained Arabic language skills and worked in the government relations environment. She also worked in technical training and as a programs and budget analyst.

Jennifer completed a General Studies degree from Indiana University in Business and Political Science via satellite campus studies while in Saudi Arabia. She then relocated to Switzerland while Bob worked for UNHCR. Tour organizing, community work with the American Women's Club, and immersion French were new adventures during this period.

After returning to Canada, Jennifer worked in Prince George as Executive Assistant to Paul Ramsey, BC's Minister of Health, and took graduate courses in International
Studies at the University of Northern British Columbia.

Later in Victoria, B.C., she worked as a political assistant to three Cabinet Ministers in the B.C. Legislature (1997 to 2001), as Ministerial Assistant and Chief of Staff.

During the same period, Jennifer served as President of Victoria Habitat for Humanity, where she realized the completion of the first three Habitat houses in Victoria and Saanich, and helped plan the six-home Habitat subdivision in Sidney, B.C. She currently works as a public policy consultant and NDP political activist.

Married to a Victoria-born Canadian, Jennifer and Bob are parents to two adult sons.
