Info | Hi, my name is Shawn Giles. I was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I also lived in Elemsdale, Dartmouth, Windsor and Brooklyn. My family still resides in Nova Scotia. I spent time in most youth groups such as Beavers, Scouts, Cubs etc. On my 17th birthday, I joined the Canadian Armed Forces. From there I spent 11 years in the service and toured in OKA where I was in the front lines between Mohawk and Surete' du Quebec keeping the peace. I then decided to move to BC, as I was drawn in by the beautiful mountains such as Whistler/Blackcomb, which is where I lived for the first six months here. I then decided to get an education, and I got a diploma in wireless communications in Surrey. I then moved to Victoria where I reside today and worked for a market research firm doing surveys for the Department of Advanced Education. I now work for the West Corporation as a customer care representative for AT&T wireless.
I believe that Canada is going down the wrong path and the mainstream parties have become deaf to the concerns of the ordinary citizen and have been intimidated by the trade agreements that focus on the good of the U.S. rather than a fair and sustainable pact that is in the best interest of ALL concerned. Also, I believe in revamping the bank act so that the government can make expansion and infrastructure improvements -- not just loans that generate profits through massive debt to, and for, the private sector. I want to see a Canada that is strong, independent and sovereign. A Canada that is not reliant on the "goodwill" of others and can provide for the world community as a whole and provide a Canadian perspective. Canada has been seen as the court of "sober second thought" and the country that has for so long got the job done when others could not. Canada is a CAN DO country and I intend to keep it that way.
