| Info | George’s roots are in town. He was born in 1970 in Vancouver to an immigrant Croatian family. He grew up in Greater Vancouver with his brother and sister. George graduated with a degree in Economics in 1992 from the University of British Columbia . He then continued his education at BCIT completing the Financial Management program. Most recently, George earned a Masters of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame. In addition to being a life-long student, George is also a part-time instructor at various post-secondary institutions, where he teaches Financial Statement Analysis, Economics and Debt Securities.
George has been married to his wife Marina for the past 4 years. Together, they are laying the foundation for their family in Burnaby as they build their new home on Pandora Street near Confederation Park.
George…the professional
Working in real estate and as a financial analyst in property development, George has built a career making tough financial and fiscal decisions. He is a strong believer in fiscal accountability and government transparency. Currently, George works as a Financial Manager with one of Burnaby ’s largest employers, BC Hydro.
George…the team player
The city of Burnaby has some of the most beautiful soccer fields and sports complexes in the country, and George puts high value on maintaining and growing these community gems for future generations. George can often be found (rain or shine) on one of the many Burnaby soccer fields playing his favourite game. George has played with Columbus FC and Croatia A soccer clubs of the Vancouver Metro Soccer League. When not kicking the soccer ball, George can be found volleying a tennis ball at the Burnaby Tennis Club where he has been a long-time member.
George…in the community
Burnaby is George’s cultural home. Whether attending music school or playing the piano and accordion at community centres and senior’s homes, George praises Burnaby’s rich cosmopolitan and multicultural fabric. He enjoys walks through Confederation Park and catching up on the latest while watching a good game of bocce ball.
