| Info | Jean-Claude D’Amours was first elected Member of Parliament for Madawaska Restigouche in 2004 and was re-elected in January 2006 and October 2008.
Mr. D’Amours is the Critic for the Atlantic Gateway and Atlantic Opportunities Agency. He has previously served as a member of the Standing Committee on Official Languages; the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities; as well as the Subcommittee on the Employment Insurance Funds.
In his political career, Mr. D’Amours was a municipal councillor from 1998 until 2004. In this capacity, he was an active member of several municipal council committees. Actively involved in the Edmundston Liberal Association and the Madawaska-Restigouche Liberal Association for many years, Mr. D’Amours participated in numerous federal and provincial election campaigns as director of communications, campaign co chair and campaign manager.
Within his community, Mr. D’Amours is involved in various organizations, including the Edmundston Regional Hospital Foundation, the Community Economic Development Agency (CEDA) and the Northwest Junior Achievement. He has also been involved with the Edmundston Jazz and Blues Festival, the Foire Brayonne, and the Edmundston Salon de la Jeunesse.
Mr. D’Amours holds a bachelor of arts degree and a bachelor of commerce degree from the Université de Moncton. He will soon be receiving his master in business administration from this institution. Mr. D’Amours was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick. He is married to Hélène Thériault, also of Edmundston. They have a daughter named Émilie.
