Info | Mike is a graduate of the University of Guelph, majoring in Economics and Political Science. He moved to Burlington with his wife Caroline in 1987 and they have two daughters, Ashley and Lindsay. Mike was elected to Burlington City Council in 1994 and re-elected in 1997, 2000 and 2003 building a reputation for hard work, straight talk and dedication.
While on Council he worked hard to develop the Paletta Lakefront Park, the Appleby Ice Centre, to bring a multi-level parking facility to downtown and to lay the groundwork for a Performing Arts Centre for Burlington - a project that he is still passionate about today. He is a community volunteer and has participated on numerous local and regional boards and committees.
Personally Mike is very much interested in the environment, specifically clean water and clean air. Wallace was nominated as the candidate for the newly-formed Conservative Party for the 2004 federal election running against a long-time Liberal incumbent. In the 2006 federal election Wallace defeated the incumbent by 2,570 votes, and after being sworn in on February 6, 2006, now represents Burlington in the House of Commons.
