| Info | Brian Irving was born in The Bronx, New York and served 25 years in the U.S. Air Force. Most of his career was overseas, in the Philippines, Viet Nam, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
His next-to-last duty assignment was as public affairs officer at Pope AFB, Fayetteville, where he grew to love North Carolina. So when he retired in 1992, he and his wife Lisa returned to Fayetteville where he worked for several years in the non-profit sector, and as a freelance writer. He served four years on the Fayetteville Planning Commission, including two years as chair.
The couple moved to Wake County in 2006 to be near their two adult children and six grandchildren.
Irving earned a bachelor’s degree in social studies from the University of the Philippines, a master’s degree in public administration from Webster University, and a master’s degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University (New Orleans).
