| Info | Dean Blumetti is running to serve on the Sparta Township Council. He lives on Waters Edge Drive with his wife of 20 years, Janet. Dean cherishes the unique blend of Sparta: charming small-town feel, plenty of activities and conveniences, safety, top schools, … all amongst the surrounding nature and beautiful scenery. He is motivated to bring fresh ideas and energy to the Council, and to ensure that we will always be able to respect and take pride in our town. Dean will serve with integrity, transparency, respect, and open communication. He takes pride in his thorough, independent-minded approach, and his ability to find common ground with all constituents. The Sparta community will be well-informed and voices will be heard. Dean has served on Sparta’s Environmental Commission since 2019, advocating for the preservation and protection of our natural resources, while balancing the desire for appropriate, smart growth. For the past four years, Dean has been the Conservation Chair and on the Board of Directors for the Northern New Jersey chapter of Trout Unlimited, based here in Sparta for over 50 years. Trout Unlimited is a 60-year old nationwide non-profit with over 300,000 members focused on conserving and restoring streams and watersheds. Dean has had the pleasure of volunteering in numerous community events, including the Youth Trout Derby, Sparta Recreation’s free “Fly Fishing 101” summer course, Sparta Day, and township Flag Day, 9/11 Remembrance ceremonies, and parades.
Dean also dedicated much time to Trout Unlimited’s Sparta Glen Brook restoration several years ago. A year later, he led the “Sparta Glen Fall Fun Day” anniversary celebration event. Dean has volunteered and collaborated frequently with organizations such as the SCMUA Wallkill River Watershed Management Group and The Nature Conservancy. Dean holds a graduate degree in Business (MBA) from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and an undergraduate degree in Economics from Drew University. During his graduate studies, Dean helped lead the school’s “Students for Responsible Business” chapter, and also achieved the “Stern Scholar” academic designation. Dean’s professional career has included investment management, organizational improvement and strategy consulting, and as a senior leader responsible for creating innovation solutions that advance our nation’s healthcare system. Dean has recently transitioned his career, shifting his focus to his true passion for Conservation, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability. In his free time, Dean enjoys exploring the outdoors and is a passionate fly fisherman. Dean’s experiences, talents, community involvement, and education have prepared him extremely well to serve the Sparta community. He is dedicated to creating ways to listen and understand your priorities, and to work alongside the community to ensure we’ll always be proud of the Sparta we care for so deeply.
