Info | Dr. Murray Sabrin, 53, has been a Professor of Finance in the School of Administration and Business at Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey for 14 years. In 1997, he ran for Governor of New Jersey and made political history by being the first "third-party" candidate to raise enough money to secure "matching funds" from the State. On election night, he made political history again by being the first third-party candidate to garner over 100,000 votes!
Most recently, Murray Sabrin founded Stopthetest.com, an online organization designed to give New Jersey motorists a forum to lobby politicians and bureaucrats in Washington to end the federal mandate that forced the new "enhanced" emissions test on New Jersey.
Sabrin is also an accomplished author and lecturer. He has spoken before scores of civic, business and educational organizations, and has been interviewed on approximately 200 cable television programs and radio shows throughout the United States. He is a lecturer for the Foundation for Free Enterprise and the President and Founder of the Alliance for a Tax Free America.
Sabrin hosted "On The Money", a weekly radio show that aired on 1160 AM, WVNJ, Oakland, New Jersey. Sabrin's show featured investment and financial analysts as well as public policy experts discussing the issues that affect the public's income, wealth and quality of life.
Sabrin has also been a cable television network host. He produced and hosted a weekly show called "Your Dollars: Up in $moke," on the New Jersey Network in 1990, and again for the 1994 - 1996 seasons.
As President and Founder of the Alliance for a Tax Free America, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational organization, Sabrin dedicates his time to preparing the public for the major economic and social changes that will occur in the next several decades. As a writer and author, Sabrin has contributed op-ed articles to The Record (Hackensack, New Jersey), written essays for Commerce Magazine, Mid-Atlantic Journal of Business and Privatization Review, and authored a book Tax Free 2000: The Rebirth of American Liberty. Sabrin is currently writing a personal finance textbook for a major publishing company.
Prior to his professorship, Sabrin worked for Century 21 in sales and marketing from 1983-1985. Previously, he was a senior investment analyst for American Investment Services from 1981-1982 and a staff economist for the American Institute for Economic Research from 1979-1981. His first job was as a New York public school teacher from 1968-1972.
Sabrin received his Ph.D. from Rutgers University in economic geography, his Master's degree in social studies education from Lehman College, and his Bachelors degree in history, geography and social studies education from Hunter College.
Sabrin was born in Bad-W?hofen, West Germany. His parents were the only ones in their respective families to survive the Holocaust. Sabrin arrived in America with his older brother and parents in August 1949 and became a U.S. Citizen in 1959. He lives with his wife of 32 years, Florence, in Leonia, (Bergen County) New Jersey.
