Info | Laura has been a leader in a 2,500-person international law firm where she has fought for innovators, employers, and family businesses who have created more than 100,000 jobs in Pennsylvania. Serving on more than a dozen civic organizations (including on the Executive Committee of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, and Chair of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Economy League of Western Pennsylvania), Laura has worked to diversify our economy, create jobs, and to reform pensions and reduce taxes. She was a leader of innovative workforce development programs, including specifically for veterans and for youth, and fostered connections between industry and providers of in-demand-job training.
Laura has been equally passionate in fighting for causes within her community. She created education alternatives and paid summer jobs for inner city children. Laura has led regional initiatives with the United Way to raise funds for families in need and helped launch innovative programs to raise money from women for women. She worked with arts organizations across the Commonwealth and has increased awareness of the impact of arts education on workforce development. Laura also helped design programs that created private-public partnerships to fund economic development for communities that were struggling economically. She was instrumental in launching the pilot of VetLex, a national initiative to provide free legal services to veterans, and she is spearheading global initiatives to combat human trafficking, to advance the medical treatment of veterans, and to deliver first-world telemedicine to developing countries around the world. Laura has also worked for equity and inclusion, both within the legal profession and beyond.
aura has been married for almost twenty-five years to her husband, Bruce, and they are the proud parents of a 20-year-old son, Matthew, who currently attends college out of state but remains the light of their life. They hope that someday he will return to Pennsylvania to live and work and raise a family of his own.
