Info | Sean Casten stands apart from every candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 6th District. He is a respected scientist, engineer, entrepreneur and clean energy leader – as well as a dedicated husband and father. Sean is uniquely qualified to address some of the most difficult issues that we face.
The Trump Administration and Congressman Peter Roskam put ideology ahead of evidence on nearly every issue. On the environment, they loosen restrictions on pollution and stall efforts to create environmentally friendly jobs or reduce our carbon imprint. In contrast, Sean has made his career proving that clean energy and economic growth can go hand in hand.
For two decades, running his own companies and advising others, Sean has been at the forefront of discovering innovative ways to make reducing carbon emissions a successful business strategy.
Sean has undergraduate degrees in molecular biology and biochemistry and master’s degrees in engineering management and biochemical engineering which helped inform his career in science and business. He will help bring critical thinking and thoughtful decision making back to Washington, where currently only five Members of Congress identify as scientists.
As a successful businessman, Sean understands the critical need to rebuild our infrastructure and promote economic growth. As a husband and father, he also knows that nothing terrifies families more than the thought of their health care being jeopardized by the massive cuts supported by Trump and Roskam. He will fight to keep Medicare and Medicaid safe for future generations and fight any proposals that would result in a single Illinois resident losing coverage.
Sean and his wife Kara have two children, Gwen (12) and Audrey (10), in Downers Grove public schools. The entire family understands the pivotal role of public education in preparing America’s students to compete in a global economy.
