Morton and served from November 8, 1881, to March 3, 1883; elected to the Fifty-first and Fifty-second Congresses and served from March 4, 1889, to September 16, 1891, when he resigned; elected Governor of New York in 1891 and served until 1895; died in Eastport, N.Y., May 12, 1899; interment in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown, N.Y.
