InfoI’m really proud to have been the Member of Parliament for Ilford North since May 2015.

I’ve lived in Redbridge for over a decade and care passionately about our community. I’m always out and about meeting as many residents, community groups, charities and businesses as possible to listen to your concerns and priorities.

Prior to my election I served as Deputy Leader of Redbridge Council and Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, leading the fight to save King George A&E and investing in local leisure facilities for people of all ages.

I speak my mind and stand up for Ilford North. You won’t always agree with me (you should never trust politicians who only ever tell you what you want to hear), but you’ll always know where I stand.

I know that there’s lots of cynicism about politics and politicians and I understand why. I hope that I repay the faith that people placed in me when they voted for me over successive elections and I also hope to earn the trust and respect of those who didn’t vote for me.

A SHORT BIO:

Wes Streeting is the Labour MP for Ilford North and Shadow Secretary of State for Health & Social Care.

Previously he served in Keir Starmer’s front bench team as a Shadow Minister for Schools and Child Poverty and as Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury.

Wes was first elected to Parliament in 2015 – bucking the trend to win the seat from the Conservatives – and spent five years as a member of the influential House of Commons Treasury Committee.

He is a Vice President of the Local Government Association and patron of LGBT+ Labour.

Prior to his election to Parliament, Wes served as Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Health & Well-being for the London Borough of Redbridge.

In his professional life he worked as a senior leader in the voluntary sector working for a range of charities focused on tackling educational inequality and disadvantage.

Wes comes from a working class family and read history at Selwyn College, Cambridge. He is a former President of the National Union of Students.
