Info | Bill and Marge Donnell moved to Aurora from their hometown of Columbus, Indiana in 1984. The Donnell’s first home was on Lebanon Street prior to moving to Hardin Avenue in 1992. With the recent redistricting of the 4th Ward, Bill’s family has lived in the 4th Ward for almost 30 years. Their three grown children, Allison, Kate, and Sam all attended West Aurora Schools and have pursued college degrees.
A Purdue University graduate, Bill is a certified Parks and Recreation Professional and is licensed as a Landscape Architect in both States of Indiana and Illinois. Bill spent 27 years with the Fox Valley Park District, first as Landscape Architect / Planner and then as Director of Park Operations and Natural Resources.
Bill Donnell was elected as the 4th Ward Alderman in 2013 and serves on the City of Aurora Planning and Development Committee. He will be up for re-election in 2017.
Service and Community Involvement
He helped the FVPD achieve national acclaim as a Gold Medal award winner in 2009, the highest honor awarded to Parks and Recreation Agencies. Bill served as Chairman of the Aurora Planning Commission for 10 years and was involved as a member on the Commission for 26 years.
In an effort to give back to the community, Bill has served as President of the Family Counseling Service from 2007-09, President of the Fox River Ecosystem Partnership for two 2-year terms, and Greenman Elementary School PTA President. He currently is a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Resource Council to help support and find resources for area at-risk children.
