Info | Nicolás Maduro Moros (born 23 November 1962) is a Venezuelan politician who has been Vice President since October 2012, serving under President Hugo Chávez. He was Minister of Foreign Affairs from August 2006 to January 2013. He is described as a "congenial former bus driver who became a union leader, congressman, foreign minister", and the "most capable administrator and politician of Chávez's inner circle".[2]
On December 8, 2012, during a televised address announcing that he would be returning to Cuba for emergency surgery due to the recurrence of his cancer, Chávez named Maduro as his successor "in case something were to occur to him".
