Info | SAM is a social and economic justice advocate, small business owner, and non-profit board member.
Sam immigrated to Los Angeles when he was ten and is the son of business owners; his mother was a proud member of UTLA and SEIU 434B – now SEIU 2015. Sam began his career as an advocate for SEIU 434B, organizing and empowering In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) workers in California, representing their interests in collective bargaining and the workplace. Sam completed his B.A. at Cal State LA and his graduate degree at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Sam operates Sam Kbushyan Group (SKG), which helps small businesses and non-profits navigate the bureaucracy to deliver services to our community.
Sam serves on the L.A. Community Alliance and Immigrants Charitable Foundation boards. In 2022, Sam was reappointed to a second term as a Commissioner of the Department of Consumer Affair’s Respiratory Care Board of California.
In 2023, Sam was appointed to serve on Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’s advisory transition team.
Sam and his wife Suzanna are raising their three children in Council District 2.
