InfoJulian Reed was elected to the House of Commons in 1993, in 1997 and in 2000. He is currently a member of the Standing Committee on the Environment and Sustainable Development.

He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for International Trade in July 1997 and then to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in July 1998.

In addition to keeping close contact with his constituents, Mr. Reed has served with four standing committees, Natural Resources, Environment and Sustainable Development, Agriculture and Agri-food and Foreign Affairs and International Trade. He has also served as Chair of the Liberal Ethanol Task Force, which was instrumental in the creation of the government's National Biomass Ethanol Program.

Prior to entering federal politics, Mr. Reed served from 1975 to 1985 as M.P.P. for Halton Centre. He also served as Executive Assistant to the Ontario Minister of Natural Resources and Energy.

Mr. Reed has also pursued his former vocation in music and acting, having been featured in over 100 television commercials and numerous television series and feature films.

Mr. Reed and his wife Deanna have raised three children.
