Info | Cheryl Gallant is a member of the New Generation of Leadership that Canada needs. Formerly the Chief Administrative Director in a family-owned Small Business /Professional Practice with her spouse of 20 years, Cheryl is the active parent of four daughters ranging in age from 12 to 18.
Active in her community as the Chairperson of the Pembroke Downtown Development Commission, she has witnessed first-hand the effects of excessive taxation on small business. As a Member of the Economic Advisory Committee of the City of Pembroke, Cheryl Gallant has sought to bring jobs to her community.
Cheryl’s values are rooted in the small town of Blenheim in southwestern Ontario where she was raised and educated. In 1980 Cheryl was presented the Gold Standard of the Duke of Edinburgh Award by His Highness, Prince Phillip for her Leadership Skills, Service to the Community and Excellence in Physical Fitness.
Cheryl attended the University of Western Ontario, successfully graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She did post-degree work in biochemistry, toxicology, pharmacology and environmental chemistry. She also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Toronto for primary research into cancer and heart disease. Prior to re-locating to Pembroke, Cheryl was a Group Insurance Executive with a Major Canadian Life Insurance Company.
Since being elected to the House of Commons in November 2000 for the federal riding of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, Cheryl has served as the critic for the Department of Canadian Heritage, Deputy House Leader, critic for Science and Small Business Industry (Federal Economic Development-Northern Ontario). Cheryl has been a member of the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology in Parliament of Canada.
Cheryl Gallant believes in community service. Never one to back away from a challenge, Cheryl believes that as a member of a fresh new party, the Conservative Party of Canada, she can be part of a new generation of leadership to make real change happen – Cheryl Gallant is ready for that challenge.
