Info | A fourth generation Staten Islander, Mark Murphy brings a depth of public service and private sector experience to his campaign for Congress. Mark will use his experience to get Congress working for middle class families again, focusing on delivering real results and moving beyond the partisan bickering that has stalled progress for too long.
As a successful businessman in the real estate and the media industries, Mark understands the importance of accountability and responsible budget making. This approach helped him secure critical investments to grow companies and create jobs, skills we need in Washington now more than ever.
In public service, Mark most recently served as Borough Representative for Public Advocate Bill de Blasio in Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens, after having worked on a staff level in both the U.S. House and the Senate. These experiences have shown Mark how government can be a positive force that unites people behind common goals, but only when those in government are willing to lay aside politics, be honest with the voters and set real standards for accountability.
Mark is running because Congress is simply not getting its job done. Bickering and partisanship have replaced hard work and results, at a time when we need our elected officials to come together to address the challenges we face as Americans. As our next member of Congress, Mark will bring our middle class values to Washington, working across the aisle to turn our economy around, create jobs and protect vital services including Social Security and Medicare.
Mark grew up on Staten Island and is a graduate of the Catholic University of America. He lives in West Brighton, NY and is the proud father of two daughters.
