| Info | I was born in Denmark 73 years ago. After earning my Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Denmark, I immigrated to Canada in 1967. I took an academic position at the University of Toronto, teaching and doing research in biomedical engineering. I helped to start several high-tech companies. A number of years ago, I fought the U of T Faculty Association’s (UTFA) unionization drive by creating AFTU (Association to Thwart Unionization). It succeeded. I am now a semi-retired professor emeritus.
I am married to Clare Lamb and have lived in the Kingsway area for 35 years. We have two sons and four grandchildren. For many years I have been an active Big Brother (for four boys).
Why Are You Running?:
For as long as I can remember, I have always cherished freedom in the most fundamental sense. Freedom to do what I want, and granting everybody else freedom to think, express and do what they see fit. Unfortunately, the world is far from free. We are suffering from innumerable limitations, and restrictions; The statist, left-wing, and religious world view is to regulate, impose, and force me to adopt life patterns, costs and limits to my behavior and life style, most of which I disagree with.
“Freedom” does come with responsibilities, of course. Doing harm to others is obviously morally unacceptable. But when no physical, emotional or economic harm is done, man should be able to conduct his life as he sees fit. All levels of governments everywhere have grown to become monsters that can coerce, tax and direct individuals far beyond what I as a freedom-loving person consider reasonable. The Libertarian Party has a basic philosophy that I find congruent with my own. I have not run as a candidate before, but am encouraged by the renewed energy in the party. For that reason I decided to stand up, rather than cowardly accepting that freedom-loving people will always be defeated. Vote for me, and if I win I promise to work diligently for that great purpose: Freedom.
