Info | Chuck Blasdel is serving his 3rd term in the Ohio House of Representatives and is currently serving as the Speaker Pro-Tempore, the 2nd highest leadership position in the House. Targeting tax reform, new job development and better care for Ohio's seniors have been the cornerstone of Chuck's agenda since becoming a House member in 2001.
As a freshman member of the Legislature, Chuck saw five of his bills become law, the most of any member of the General Assembly at that time. Chuck's bills ranged from implementing the $400 million Clean Ohio fund to a predatory lending package that will protect Ohio's consumers.
In Chuck's second term, he became Chairman of the House Banking, Pensions and Securities Committee. Under his leadership, the General Assembly implemented sweeping pension reforms and fought corruption within the pension systems.
Chuck's Legislative Accomplishments include:
Leading the charge on the Comprehensive Tax Reform Package, which eliminated harmful taxes for Ohio businesses such as the franchise and inventory taxes. This package also included a 21 percent income tax cut for all Ohioans.
Protecting Second Amendment Rights by co-sponsoring Ohio's Conceal Carry Law.
Voting against the largest tax increase in the history of Ohio.
Voting against an increase in the gas tax to protect Ohioans who already pay too much at the pump.
Sponsoring the Brian and Aaron Law, which changed jurisdiction laws in Ohio so that when criminals who commit crimes in Ohio must come back here to face trial for those crimes.
Standing up to the Environmental Protection Agency on behalf of local businesses that are burdened by over-regulation and harmful fines. Government should work for the people, not the other way around.
Supporting Ohio's Prescription Drug Package, giving Ohio seniors much-needed access to more affordable prescription drugs.
In addition to his leadership in the General Assembly, Chuck is extremely active in his community. As a member of the Blue Ribbon Committee of St. Clair Township, Chuck helps identify and recruit economic development projects to the area. A former President of the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce, Chuck is also a member of the East Liverpool Rotary Club and is active with the Salvation Army.
Chuck, his wife Lisa and their five-year-old son Justin, who began kindergarten this year, live in East Liverpool.
