Deb Gullett serves as Chairman of the House Health Committee, and also serves on the Environment Committee and the Committee on Government Operations and State Retirement.
With a great number of uninsured children and an aging population, she views health care as one of the most critical issues facing the state. She is also dedicated to the preservation of Arizona’s environmental and cultural resources. She represents District 11, which includes the Town of Paradise Valley and the North Central, Arcadia and Biltmore neighborhoods of Phoenix.

Deb is a member of the Childhelp USA, Arizona Board of Directors, and serves on the Board of the Mountain Park Community Health Centers. She was tapped by The Greater Phoenix Economic Council to serve on their Competitiveness Committee and serves on the Flinn Foundation’s Battelle Steering Committee. She is a member of the Arizona Head Start Collaborating Council, and also serves on the State Board on School Readiness.

From 1991 to 2000 Deb served as a chief aide to U.S. Senator John McCain. She served first as Chief of Staff in his Capitol office in Washington, D.C. and then as State Director in Senator McCain’s Arizona office.

Prior to that she served as Special Assistant to President George Bush and Director of the White House office of Media Relations. In 1988 she was named one of the rising stars in American politics by Campaigns and Elections magazine.

Deb worked in political campaigns and as a Congressional aide from 1980 to 1989.

Deb and her husband Wes are the parents of young children in local public schools. A lifelong Republican activist, she is a precinct committeeman in Lamar precinct, a founder of Republican Women 2000, and is a member of Cactus Wren Republican Women. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa.
