Info | BREWER, John Hart, (great-great-great grandson of John Hart (1713c-1779)), a Representative from New Jersey; born in Hunterdon County, N.J., March 29, 1844; attended the Lawrenceville schools and Trenton Academy; was graduated from the Delaware Literary Institution, Franklin, Delaware County, N.Y., in 1862; moved to Trenton, N.J., in 1865 and engaged in the manufacture of pottery; member of the State house of assembly in 1876; president of the National Potters’ Association in 1879; elected as a Republican to the Forty-seventh and Forty-eighth Congresses (March 4, 1881-March 3, 1885); resumed the manufacture of pottery until 1895, when he engaged in the insurance business; appointed assistant appraiser of merchandise at the port of New York City by President McKinley and served until his death in Trenton, N.J., December 21, 1900; interment in Riverview Cemetery.
