Info | Carol Boigon's extensive professional, volunteer and education background reflects her long-time commitment to children and families.
Carol was first elected to Denver City Council in May 2003. She has been chair of the General Government Committee, chair of the Finance Committee, and served as a member of the Blueprint Denver and FasTracks committees. She currently is co-chair of Government and Finance Committee.
In addition, she is a board member of Denver Preschool Program, Colorado State Board of Human Services, Great Education Colorado, Metro Crisis Triage Initiative, the Baby Haven, and an honorary board member of the Denver International School.
Prior to her election to Denver City Council, Carol was the executive director of the Mayor's Office for Education and Children, where she championed the opening of Denver Head Start and started a school-to-career program in every Denver public middle school. Prior to this position she was an aide to Denver Councilwoman Joyce Foster, and she was a senior writer to Governor Roy Romer, communications director for the Colorado Democrats, a reading teacher and a newspaper reporter.
Carol has a Master's degree in journalism from the University of Colorado-Boulder. She has a reading specialist certificate and a Bachelors degree in English and Political Science, both from the University of Michigan.
