InfoDr Belinda Brooks-Gordon is a Chartered Psychologist and leading academic in forensic psychology specialising in social policy and criminal justice. She has teaches students and prison psychologists.Belinda left school at 16 yrs and worked as a beautician. She later did a degree as a mature student and ended up doing a PhD in Cambridge in the Law Faculty. Belinda wrote the Liberal Democrat Women’s Policy document Real Women with Lynne Featherstone MP and Jo Swinson MP.

A County Councillor on Cambridgeshire Council Belinda has a strong 15yr record of action campaigning in the region. She succeeded in getting better nursery provision, making a developer change plans for a large supermarket, as well as saving an important historic building. She is supporting local people on a number of key issues: over the Hatchfield Farm development, Wickhambrook Key Service Centre status, middle school reorganization, and small independents trading in Haverhill. She is against the closure of Mildenhall Courts.

As a national policy expert and she has led major national campaigns working with MPs, MEPs, and Peers to amend legislation, defeat the government to ensure social justice, and prevent fundamental breaches to precious freedoms. She has a strong record of action in parliament, including a victory amending legislation and getting dangerous clauses removed from a Bill last year, and exposing bogus government figures on trafficking and migration. She also campaigns on sustainable transport, education and disability rights, and against inequality and injustice.

Belinda has lived in East Anglia for over 20 years with her family. Belinda and Mark, an equine vet and computer expert, have 4 children between them and close links with West Suffolk where one of the children lives. Her priorities are education, environment, social justice, employment, cleaning up parliament and ending safe seats which were part of the problem during the expenses crisis. Belinda is friendly, enthusiastic, hard working, and principled. If elected, she will not claim for a second home.
