She is an excellent candidate and will be an effective, independent voice on the Board of Freeholders at a time when two-party representation is urgently needed.
Marano, the first Democrat elected to the Green Brook Township Committee since 1987, is now serving her second term. She is a full-time township committeewoman with a background in accounting and sales. Since 2004, she has served on the Green Brook Environmental Commission, Cultural Heritage and Historic Preservation Committee, Flood Control Commission, and is the liaison to the municipal court. Melonie is the founder and chair of Green Brook Volunteer Day.
Among her many volunteer activities, Mrs. Marano is a long time Girl Scout leader and member of the Sierra Club, on the board of Somerset Treatment Services, Chair of the Green Brook Democratic Committee, a member of the Womens Political Caucus and the Somerset County Federation of Democratic Women. She is a graduate of Leadership Somerset, class of 2005.
